How are you built around money?
Twelve statements give you your baseline. Seventeen more give you your build, one of sixteen, and what to work on next.
About three minutes.
Anxious and engaged
You look constantly, and it costs you every time.
How it works
- The warm-up. Twelve statements about money, answered honestly. You get your baseline: how money feels for you, and whether you lean in or away.
- The working set. Seventeen more. You get your build, one of sixteen, and a result written from your own answers.
- Build from there. Every result ends with a small next step you choose. Not a plan. One rep.
What the quiz measures
Anxious or calm. Whether money sits on you even when things are fine.
Engaged or avoidant. Whether the statement gets opened.
Shame, light or heavy. Whether money makes you feel like you've failed.
Confident or unsure. Whether a money goal feels reachable.
We're all built differently around money. Some of us lean in. Some look away. Some feel anxious about it, some feel steady. Some think constantly about the future. Some carry shame about what they have or don't have. None of that means you're bad with money. How you're built is a starting point. What you do with it is the work, and the work is learnable: know your build, use what comes naturally, and put in the reps on what doesn't.
FAQ
How was the quiz built?
From a 2026 study of nearly 1,000 U.S. adults, and six years of NextGen research with more than 10,000 millennials and Gen Z. It is research-informed and being refined through ongoing research: scored on the study's statements plus six written to validated scales, with a study-style score kept alongside for comparison. How the quiz was built.
Is this a personality test?
It's closer to a snapshot. Most of the statements come from a research study, six were written to validated scales, and your build comes from where you sit on four things the study measured. It tells you how you're built around money right now, not who you are forever.
Is it free?
Yes. The quiz, your baseline, your build and your meters are free. A full report written from your answers is available for a small fee if you want it.
What happens to my answers?
They're stored by NextGen Research and used in research in de-identified form, meaning aggregated with everyone else's and never tied to you. Your email is optional and only used for what you tick. Full details in the privacy policy.
Do I need to be buying a home?
No. Nothing in the quiz asks about buying. Rent, own, live with family: the quiz is for you.
Can my build change?
The quiz shows where you are now. People's habits and confidence move, and the meters will show it if you come back. We don't promise a new build; we promise a clearer read and a next step you choose.
What if my result doesn't fit?
Tell us on the result page. There's a short fit question and a box for what we missed. The observations on your page come from your own answers, so if one of them is wrong, the answer behind it is the place to look.
Who made this?
NextGen Research by Kristin Messerli, the research practice behind six years of studies on how millennials and Gen Z think about money and homes. More on the about page.
