A free quiz, about three minutes
How are you built around money?
Twelve statements give you an honest read on how you handle money. Sixteen more tell you which of twelve types you are, and what to build next.
No right answers. No sign-up to see your result.
How it works
- The warm-up. Twelve statements about money, answered honestly. You get your build: Autopilot, Lookout or Anchor.
- The working set. Sixteen more, if you want them. You get your type, one of twelve, with seven meters that show where you sit.
- Build from there. Every result ends with one small next step. Not a plan. One rep.
The three builds
You keep money running in the background and you'd rather not look too closely. Half of everyone.
You watch every dollar, and watching doesn't make you feel safer. One in four.
You're steady about money, and a home feels like the natural next thing. One in four.
The twelve types
Every build has four types, split by how heavy money feels and how sure you are that you can move it.
We're all built differently around money. Some of us lean in. Some look away. Some feel anxious about it, some feel steady. Some think constantly about the future. Some carry shame about what they have or don't have. None of that means you're bad with money. How you're built is a starting point. What you do with it is the work, and the work is learnable: know your build, use what comes naturally, and put in the reps on what doesn't.
Built from a 2026 study of nearly 1,000 U.S. adults, and six years of NextGen research with more than 10,000 millennials and Gen Z.
Your answers are scored exactly the way the study scored its respondents, so your result is comparable to theirs.
FAQ
- Is this a personality test?
- It's closer to a snapshot. The twenty-eight statements come from a research study, and your answers are scored the same way the study's were. It tells you how you're built around money right now, not who you are forever.
- Is it free?
- Yes. The quiz, your build, your type and your meters are free. A full report written from your answers is available if you want it.
- What happens to my answers?
- They're stored by [LLC LEGAL NAME] and used in research in de-identified form, meaning aggregated with everyone else's and never tied to you. Your email is optional and only used for what you tick. Full details in the privacy policy.
- Do I need to be buying a home?
- No. Some statements ask how you feel about owning or renting because the study found it's part of how people are built around money. Rent, own, live with family: the quiz is for you.
- Can my type change?
- The quiz shows where you are now. People's habits and confidence move, and the meters will show it if you come back. We don't promise a new type; we promise a clearer read and one next step.
- Who made this?
- NextGen Research, the research practice behind six years of studies on how millennials and Gen Z think about money and homes. More on the about page.
